Prototyp Kunst I

Prototypical structural setup with a focus on “How can I survive financially as an artist?”

Concept & direction: Jula Baltschun
Facilitator: Nicolai Albrecht

In a systemic constellation, individuals are positioned in a room to represent members or aspects of a system and, with the help of a constellation facilitator, enter into relationships and dialogue.

The prototypical constellation with the focus “How can I survive financially as a freelance artist?” does not deal with an individual question, as is the case with family constellations, for example, but with a general question that affects many artists. Sixteen people worked with a professional constellation facilitator to determine which representatives were needed to represent the question. Each person chose a representative and put on a labeled suit.

Everyone moves around the room and finds their place. The constellation facilitator questions the system. The Good Solution wants to move to the other corner, the artwork wants to share itself and give something. Inspiration rests on the floor as an inexhaustible source, while foreign value sweats in the light. Money stamps its feet indignantly and feels ignored. Everyone gives in to their impulse and moves.

When the artwork and meaning are no longer too close together, the money finds an entrance and everyone seems friendlier to it. It can now see the artist. Representatives Artist, inspiration, recognition, sovereignty, self-esteem, biographical hurdles, moment of happiness, artwork, purpose/meaning, external value, social value, perceivers, gallery owner, institutions/collectors, money, good solution.

In the meantime, please take a look at the money, artist. What is it like when you look at the money?
Artist: Well, earlier I really thought that I didn't need it. It doesn't feel quite right yet. But in any case, I say: Okay, it's there, and it might be good to keep the connection.

Then please say to the money: In the past, I didn't want to see you.
Artist: In the past, I didn't want to see you.

And I also devalued you to a certain extent.
Artist: And I also devalued you to a certain extent.

And I'm sorry for that.
Artist: And I'm sorry for that.

And I want to change that now.
Artist: And I want to change that now.

When you say that, does it feel right or not so right?
Artist: Not so right.

Could you say to money: You can be a little more a part of things in the future?
Artist: You can be a little more a part of things in the future.

Does that feel right?
Artist: Yes.

How does that make you feel, Money?
Money: I'm really happy about that, because I felt that he or the whole system didn't want me and devalued me. Devalued me and, yes, found something uncool about me.

So you don't talk about money, it's considered uncool, and that's how money experiences it. And now, when you look at it, is it better?
Money: Yes, I'm happy. I'd like to get closer.

Test how much closer you want to get.
Money: I just feel like I need some help.

Who do you need help from?
Money: Hmm, I can't say right now.

Does anyone feel like helping?
Artwork: Yes, me, automatically. Because artworks just want to help. I'd like to sit down on the floor with her now, but that's totally crazy, right?
