In times of crisis real estate is regarded as a safe investment. Because its value stability is comparable to that of gold, it also goes by the name concrete gold.

Properties with a golden paw influence their environment in a special way. According to the legend, the paw’s continual waving not only attracts investors but also brings luck and prosperity.

Its promise of salvation is nevertheless doubtful as it is dependent on the misfortune of others. The promised profits can only be achieved through speculation in increasing rents and land prices. The suppression of alternative as well as non-profitable forms of life is one of its consequences.

The interpretation of the waving paw is therefore dependent on the perspective of the observer. It can either be interpreted as a gesture to lure someone or as an act of defence. The movement itself represents the dynamics of social processes that are characterised by opposed interests.

The conceptual work “Concrete Gold” consists of different components: texts, postcards, miniature houses, installation.

In Krisenzeiten gelten Immobilien als zuverlässige Kapitalanlage. Weil ihnen eine ähnliche Wertstabilität wie bei Gold nachgesagt wird, tragen sie auch den Beinamen Betongold.

Immobilien mit einer goldenen Pfote nehmen in besonderer Weise Einfluss auf ihre Umgebung. Der Legende nach soll ihr unablässiges Winken nicht nur Investoren anlocken, sondern auch Glück und Wohlstand einbringen.

Ihr Heilsversprechen ist jedoch zweifelhaft, da es durch das Unglück anderer bedingt ist. Die versprochenen Gewinne können nur durch Spekulation mit steigenden Miet- und Grundstückspreisen erzielt werden. Die Folge ist eine Verdrängung alternativer und geringwirtschaftlicher Lebensformen.

Die Deutung der Geste des Winkens ist demnach von der Perspektive ihres Betrachters abhängig. Sie kann sowohl als Lockbewegung als auch als Abwehrbewegung gedeutet werden. Ihre grundsätzliche Bewegung spiegelt dabei die Dynamik eines von gegenläufigen Interessen geprägten gesellschaftlichen Prozesses wider.
